The Army Flying Museum in Middle Wallop, Hampshire, is the regimental museum of the Army Air Corps and its antecedent units: The Royal Engineers, the Royal Flying Corps, Air Observation Post Squadrons and the Glider Pilot Regiment. Housing over 40 aircraft dating back to the First World War, the Museum tells the story of Army aviation over 150 years and recently became the only museum in Europe to house an Apache AH Mk.1.The Museum actively records oral histories from both serving and veteran personnel and has a unique archive that is used for both academic research and family histories.
Alongside operating as a museum welcoming over 50,000 visitors per year, the organisation also delivers multiple education activities specialising in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) for all ages and a popular lecture programme which is also available via live stream. The Museum's annual flagship fundraising event, Wallop Wheels & Wings, takes place every July and includes air displays, aircraft fly-in, over 400 classic and super cars and the Discovery Den, a space for children (and adults) to explore and learn about science and engineering from some of the most innovative companies in the country. The Museum aims to educate and inspire all generations through the Army aviators' stories of courage and innovation.
