Peter Sommerkorn

Vice President, Military Development Programs Pratt & Whitney, an RTX Business

Peter Sommerkorn is Vice President, Military Development Programs at Pratt & Whitney. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing Pratt & Whitney's portfolio of classified and unclassified advanced military engine and technology programs. Before this, Peter was Executive Director, 6th Gen Programs for Military Engines at Pratt & Whitney. In that role, he was responsible for critical program execution while developing and enacting strategies to design, develop, and deliver winning 6th generation programs for the USAF and USN. Before that, Peter was Executive Director, Group Strategy and Development at Pratt & Whitney. In that role, he was responsible for developing and driving strategic initiatives across the entire enterprise, including business strategies, market and geopolitical analysis, competitive positioning, and integrated strategic planning. Prior to that, he was Senior Director in the Corporate Strategy and Development group at the former United Technologies, where he led strategic initiatives, worked on various merger and acquisition transactions, and helped lead the spin-offs of Carrier and Otis into standalone public companies. Before joining UTC in 2018, Peter held various roles with increasing responsibility in engineering, operations, and strategy at Precision Castparts Corporation, the Boston Consulting Group, and Lennox International. He holds undergraduate degrees in mechanical engineering and mathematics from the University of Utah as well as an MBA and Master of Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology
