General Adrian Spain

Gen Adrian L. Spain serves as Commander of Air Combat Command (ACC) at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia. He oversees the readiness of air, cyberspace, and electromagnetic spectrum forces for rapid global deployment, ensuring strategic air defense capabilities in both peacetime and wartime. ACC comprises over 1,600 aircraft, 36 wings, 12 bases, and 1,371 units across 263 global locations, supported by more than 155,000 military and civilian personnel. As the lead major command for Combat Air Forces, ACC develops strategy, doctrine, and tactics for air, space, and cyber operations. It provides conventional and information warfare forces to unified commands, ensuring superiority across domains for warfighters and national leaders. ACC also supports national agencies with intelligence, surveillance, and crisis response capabilities. Gen Spain commissioned into the Air Force in 1994 via ROTC at Villanova University. His career spans extensive aviation and command roles, joint assignments, and deployments. He is a command pilot with over 2,150 flight hours—primarily in the F-22A and F-15C/D—and more than 220 combat hours. Before assuming command at ACC, Gen Spain served as Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations at Headquarters U.S. Air Force, the Pentagon. In that role, he led policy development supporting global operations, force management, training, and readiness, and acted as Operations Deputy to the Air Force Chief of Staff.
