Colonel Rafael Ichaso Franco
Commandant Tactical Leadership Programme
The coronel of the Spanish Air & Space Force, Rafael Ichaso Franco, is fighter pilot and staff officer. He has more than 2800 flying hours, mainly in the EF-18 "Hornet" during his different assignments in the 15th Wing, but also in the F-5 "Freedom Fighter" between his periods of student and instructor at the 23rd Wing and the C-101 "Aviojet" at the Spanish Air and Space Academy. He has participated in several military operations, in Bosnia Herzegovina and Kosovo as well as the recent ones reinforcing the NATO's eastern flank. His advanced training and experience include Electronic Warfare, Targeting, NATO's Tactical Evaluator and pedagogy. His previous posts also include the NATO's Air Command (AIRCOM), the NATO's Joint Air Power Competence Center (JAPCC), the Spanish Air Combat Command (MACOM) and the General Air Command (MAGEN) both of the Spanish Air & Space Force. Since the 10th of July 2026 he is the commandant of the TLP.
