Brigadier General Carl-Fredrik Edström is the Director of the Air and Space Systems Division at the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV). In this role, he leads the development, acquisition and sustainment of advanced air and space capabilities in close cooperation with the Swedish Armed Forces, industry and international partners. Before assuming this position, Brigadier General Edström served as Senior Advisor to the Swedish Air Force Commander, focusing on Sweden's integration into NATO, and as Director of the Nordic Division, tasked with implementing the Nordic Air Power Concept across the Nordic Air Forces. He has held several senior leadership roles within the Swedish Air Force, including Commander of Norrbotten Wing (F 21), Chief of Operations at Air Force Headquarters, Wing Commander Flying at F 21, Head of Short Term Planning at the Air Force Staff, and Squadron Commander of 212th Fighter Squadron. In 2011, during Operation Unified Protector over Libya, he commanded the Swedish Air Force detachment FL 02 and flew 33 combat missions. Over his career, he accumulated more than 2,500 flight hours on the JAS 39 Gripen the JA 37 Viggen and SK60.
