Colonel Simon Pope

Colonel Simon Pope is Commander of the British Army's UAS Group. Commissioned into the Army Air Corps in 2002, he has served across a range of operational roles as a helicopter pilot and Joint Terminal Attack Controller, with multiple overseas deployments including Iraq, Afghanistan and wider global operations. He has held command appointments including command of 659 Squadron and a Joint Air Wing. Colonel Pope attended the Advanced Command and Staff Course (psc(j)) and has held staff roles in capability development and C4ISR in the MOD. He has a PhD from King's College London and assumed command of the UAS Group in 2025.
