Major General Claudiu-Ovidiu Dobocan

Major-General Claudiu O. Dobocan has served as Commander of the Romanian Special Operations Command since September 2023, following five years as its Director and Deputy Commander. His joint experience includes commanding the Deployable Special Operations Component Command (2019–2023), serving as an exchange officer to United States Special Operations Command in Florida (2015–2017), directing the Special Operations Element in Regional Command-East, Afghanistan (2012–2013), and leading the Exercise Branch at NATO Special Operations Headquarters in Belgium (2008–2011). He graduated from the Army Academy in 1995 and spent a decade in airborne and special mission units. Operationally, he advised the Romanian Army Chief of Staff and commanded precursor SOF structures. Strategically, he served with USSOCOM and NATO SOF HQ, contributing to key NATO standards. He led the Romanian SOF Transformation Initiative, underpinning today's SOFCOM. He holds distinguished degrees in management and special operations and has received multiple Romanian, US, and NATO honours.
