Lieutenant General Marin, born in Ploiești, joined the Romanian Armed Forces in 1990 after graduating the Field Artillery School and later earned degrees in International Economic Relations and Project Management, along with advanced security studies in Bucharest and at the George C. Marshall Center. He has commanded at levels from platoon to division, including leading the 2nd Infantry Division (2022–2023) and the 8th LAROM Brigade. His multinational experience includes key roles in Afghanistan and NATO structures. Highly decorated, he holds multiple national honors and the U.S. Bronze Star. In April 2023, he became Chief of the Romanian Land Forces Staff.
