Brigadier General Zsolt Molnár

Deputy Commander (Land Forces) Hungarian Defence Forces Joint Operations Command

Beginning his military career in 1993, he served as a platoon leader with the Hungarian Defence Forces' (HDF) 62nd Miklós Bercsényi Mechanized Infantry Brigade before spending a decade with the HDF 88th Air Mobility Battalion (Quick Reaction Battalion, MH 1st Light Mixed Regiment), where he held successive roles as platoon commander, company commander, and chief of training from 1994 to 2004. From 2004 to 2006, he served at the HDF Land Forces Command as a G3/G7 special operations and light infantry officer, followed by appointments as special operations chief at the HDF Joint Forces Command (G7) in 2007–2008 and deputy commander of special operations at the HDF Peace Support Training Center in 2008–2009. He then became deputy commander of the HDF 34th Special Operations Battalion (2009–2010) and commander of the Military Student Section at the National University of Defence (2010–2011). Between 2011 and 2017, he commanded the HDF "Ludovika Battalion," after which he served as G7 Chief at HDF Joint Forces Command (2017–2018). From 2018 to 2022, he was posted to the United States as Liaison Officer at the USA Joint Staff J7 Joint Force Development Directorate in Suffolk and concurrently served as Head of Service at NATO ACT's National Liaison Office in Norfolk. Returning to Hungary, he was appointed Deputy Commander of the HDF 5th Infantry Brigade in 2022, and in 2023 assumed command of the HDF 30th Mechanized Infantry Brigade.
