Commander, 57th Operations Group US Air Force

Colonel Scott Mills is the Commander, 57th Operations Group, 57th Wing, Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada. The 57th Operations Group is comprised of ten squadrons and three detachments, supporting operational, training and test missions for the 57th and 53rd Wings. The group oversees formal and joint academic training, conducts RED FLAG, RED FLAG – Rescue, and GREEN FLAG exercises, integrates multi-domain adversarial forces, and directs airfield operations, scheduling, training, and weather support for Nellis Air Force Base. The Group’s mission is to create combat airpower for joint and coalition forces through integrated, advanced, relevant and realistic training.

Colonel Mills received his commission from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1999. He is a command pilot with more than 2,400 flying hours, including over 300 combat hours. His operational assignments include service in the 354th Fighter Squadron, Davis-Monthan AFB, Arizona; 25th Fighter Squadron, Osan Air Base, Republic of Korea; the 74th Fighter Squadron, Pope AFB, North Carolina; and a tour as an instructor at the U.S. Air Force Weapons School. He has flown combat missions in Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom, where he also served as a Battalion Air Liaison Officer.
