ABBS was formed in 2011 to develop the unique Vehicle Global Mitigation System (VGAMâ„¢) system designed to prevent armoured vehicles being blown into the air when they strike a large mine or IED, thus protecting the occupants from potentially fatal acceleration injuries. The system was developed and fully proven in both the UK and the USA by 2018, using the novel, powerful, rapid reaction Linear Rocket Motors (LRMâ„¢) to push down on the vehicle to counteract the blast lifting forces and achieve the desired result. Originally targeted at manned armoured vehicles, the focus has now switched to UGVs, especially those designed for CASEVAC and Pathfinder roles, where the ability of the vehicle to sustain multiple AT mine blasts and remain fully functional is critical to their effectiveness.
