Nicky is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer and is the Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) Specialist Fellow for Land Domain Autonomy. He is currently the Lead Engineer on Project Nyx – the Land Autonomous Collaborative Platform (LACP). In his time in UK Defence Innovation (UKDI) and its previous incarnations, he took the leading technical role on many Uncrewed Ground Vehicle (UGV) projects such as Robotic Platoon Vehicles, Heavy UGV Challenge, Leader Follower logistics, and Project PANDORA, which investigated novel test capabilities for Robotics and Autonomous Systems. Most recently Nicky was Lead Engineer for the Human Machine Teaming project, delivering the Dismounted Data System which is now a key component of Project ASGARD. An Army Reservist, in 2017 he deployed as an infrastructure engineer on Op KIPION, designing and delivering infrastructure across Ops TORAL and SHADER. He is now a Troop Commander in the Royal Engineers Railway Team.
