MG DAN began his military career in 1986, by attending one of the oldest Romanian military high schools for four years. He is a graduate of the Romanian Land Forces Academy and was commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant into the Infantry in 1993.
Throughout his military career his postings included: platoon leader and mechanized infantry company commander; Chief of Observer-Controller Office within the Romanian Joint National Training Centre; Chief of Staff of 812th Infantry Battalion; Chief of Plans and Training within the 81st Mechanized Brigade; Commander of the 32nd Infantry Battalion “Mircea”; and Deputy Chief of Staff for Support within Headquarters Multinational Division South-East.
Talking about operational experience, during his military career he deployed for a seven months tour to Iraq in 2004 and he deployed twice to Afghanistan, first as the Chief of Staff for 812th Infantry Battalion in 2010, and second as Commander of 2nd Maneuver Battalion in 2013.
In 2007, he graduated The US Army Command and General Staff College and then in 2011 The “George C. Marshall” Program on Terrorism and Security Studies. In 2015, he graduated from The US Army War College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, USA, with a Masters Degree in Strategic Studies.
In May 2017, he was assigned as deputy commander of the Multinational Brigade South-East and appointed commanding officer of the brigade on August 3rd. On June 6, 2020, MG Dan was appointed as the Commander of Headquarters Multinational Division South-East.
On June, 2022, MG Dan was appointed as Deputy Chief of Land Forces General Staff, where he currently is assigned.
