Lieutenant General Ricardo José Nigri

Commander, 5th Army Division Brazilian Army

When nominated 5th Army Division Commander on august 2nd 2024, Gen NIGRI was serving as Deputy of Science and Technology Department. He was promoted to the current rank on july 31th, 2022.

His commissions as a general officer was:

- 2nd Mechanized Cavalry Brigade Commander, based in Uruguaiana – RS;

- Army Aviation Commander, based in Taubaté – SP;

- Chief of Aviation, Peace Operations and Military Police, based in Brasília – DF;

- Deputy of Science and Technology Department, based in Brasília – DF;

- 5th Army Division Commander, based in Curitiba – PR. Born on May 13, 1967, in the city of Rio de Janeiro – RJ.

He joined the ranks of the Army on February 24, 1986. He was declared Aspirant of the Cavalry Branch on december 9, 1989. He attended the Cavalary Advanced Course in 1996 and the Army's Command and General Staff School in 2006 and 2007. He took the Helicopter Pilot course in 1993, the Combat Pilot course in 1998 and the Army Aviation Advanced course in 2001. As a Cavalry officer, he was armor platoon leader and armor company commander. Abroad, he attended the Black Hawk Pilot course in the US Army in 1999. He was a UN Military Observer in Côte d'Ivoire (ONUCI) in 2005, the French Army's Aviation Liaison Officer in 2010 and 2011 and took a Master's degree in National Strategy in Uruguay in 2015. He commanded the Army Aviation School, based in Taubaté-SP, in 2013 and 2014.
