James Gavin is the Head of MoD Technology Transition, as Deputy Director UKDI The UKDI exists to explore and to accelerate capabilities into Operational use. Increasingly projects are ‘Agile By Default’ to deliver early operational advantage. The Directorate works closely with all the Front-line Commands, DSTL and the delivery portfolios within the NAD.

James has served in the military, the civil service and industry before joining the MOD. He is a passionate advocate of delivering Operational Advantage through novel ways of working, particularly though applying Agile & Spiral Development and the use of Industry Mission Partners.

Join our dedicated session for SMEs to hear from peers and MoD representatives work-ing to increase SME visibility within the de-fence industry. Attendees will hear from a panel of stakeholders as they discuss case studies from successful SME contracts and the opportunities to engage with military organisations in order to drive innovation and exports. These discussions will be fol-lowed by time for more relaxed networking to build new connections with peers who face similar challenges, and to connect with military stakeholders who can champion SME suppliers with the armoured vehicle com-munity.
