Paul Clayton offers the perspective of a practitioner who followed the well trodden route into the defence industry. He was commissioned into the British Army in 1994 and served for 30 years. As an Infantry officer he deployed on operations in Bosnia, Northern Ireland, Afghanistan, Iraq and South Sudan. His career highlights were leading the 1st Battalion The Royal Welsh as an Armoured Infantry Battlegroup Commander , and in his penultimate role as the Commander of the UK element of NATO's enhanced Forward Presence in Estonia and Poland for two years. After retiring from the Army in 2023 he has been VP of Sales in SensusQ and now Director of Industrial Partnerships at Milrem Robotics. He has significant Ukraine experience with his work with Milrem, Help99 and as a mentor with DARKSTAR. He is also a mentor with the NATO DIANA programme.
