Colonel Aron Kalmus

Colonel Aron Kalmus was born in Tallinn, Estonia in 1974. Started conscription service in Kalevi Single Infantry Battalion He graduated from Non-Comossioned Officer school in 1994. After conscription COL Kalmus studied Finnish Military Academy and graduated Officer Basic Course in Finland in 1996. His active servise continued in Kalevi Single Infantry Battalion as juunior officer, served as a mortar platoon leader and thereafter juunior staff officer positions in Headquarters of Kalevi Single Infantry Battalion.

From 2000 until 2002 Colonel Kalmus served as staff officer in Signal Battallion Estonian Defense Legue Headquarters. 2004 Colonel Kalmus graduated from Senior Staff Officer Course in Finnish Military Academy and served 8 year in various positions in Land Forces Heaqadquarters, started as a staff officer, followed by Inspektor of Infantry and head of G7 duties.

2006 - 2007 Colonel Kalmus was deployed to Iraq for 6-month. 2008 – 2009 Colonel Kalmus studied and graduated (Master´s Degree) )Finnish Military Academy General Staff Course.

2012 – 2015 Colonel Kalmus Commanded 1st Infantry Brigade in Tapa Garrision. 2015 Colonel Kalmus was appointed to Estonian Defence Forces Heqadquarters to Head J3 duties. 2018 Colonel Kalmus was assigned to Commander of NATO Force Integration Unit duties. After establishment of Multinational Division North (MNDN) Colonel Kalmus served in Latvia, Adazi Base as Deputy Chief of Staff Operations of MND N.

2022 – 2025 Colonel Kalmus seved as deputy Assistant Chief of Staff of Intelligence in Joint Force Command Brunssum Netherlands. Colonel Kalmus assigned to his current duties as Deputy Commander of Estonian Division as of 01. august 2025. He has received the following awards and decorations, Order of the Cross of Eagle – IV class, Defence Minister service medal – III class, Defence Forces service medal, Defence Forces Army Officer Golden Cross, The Army Commendation Medal. Colonel Aron Kalmus is married to Eve and has two sons and daughter.
