Major General Glenn Dean

Major General Glenn A. Dean was commissioned as a U.S. Army Armor officer in 1993 as a Distinguished Military Graduate of the ROTC program at the Florida Institute of Technology. His first assignment was to the 2nd Battalion, 69th Armor at Fort Benning, Georgia where he served as a Tank Platoon Leader, Scout Platoon Leader, and company Executive Officer.

His subsequent operational assignments include: Commander, U.S. Army Recruiting Company, Frederick Maryland; Assistant Operations Officer, 1st Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division; Commander, Company B, 1st Battalion 8th Cavalry; and Commander, Headquarters & Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion 8th Cavalry.

In 2002, he transitioned to the Army Acquisition Corps, serving as Chief, Small Arms Division, U.S. Army Infantry Center; Assistant Product Manager, Medium Cannon Caliber Ammunition, Picatinny Arsenal; Science & Technology Advisor, Combined/Joint Task Force-82, Afghanistan; and Armament Systems Technology Manager, Armaments Research, Development, and Engineering Center, Picatinny Arsenal. He subsequently served as Product Manager, Bradley Fighting Vehicle & Armored Knight; the Military Deputy for the Tank-Automotive Research, Development, and Engineering Center; and as Project Manager, Stryker Brigade Combat Team, all at Detroit Arsenal, Michigan. He served as the Deputy for Acquisition and Systems Management under the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Acquisition, Logistics, and Technology prior to assuming duties as Program Executive Officer, Ground Combat Systems in December 2020.

Major General Dean’s military and civilian education includes: BS, Aerospace Engineering, Florida Institute of Technology; MS, Industrial Engineering, Georgia Institute of Technology; MA, Strategic Studies, US Army War College; the Armor Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, the Acquisition Officer Basic Course, the Command and General Staff Officer’s Intermediate Level Education Course, the Program Manager’s Course, the US Army War College, and Airborne School.

His awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Joint Service Achievement Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the Southwest Asia Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Parachutist’s Badge, the Army Staff Badge, and the Recruiter Badge.
