Brigadier John Holloway was commissioned into the Royal Australian Armoured Corps in 2001 following graduation from the Royal Military College – Duntroon. He has held command appointments across cavalry and armoured units, including command of the 1st Armoured Regiment, and has served in key instructional and staff roles at RMC-Duntroon, and staff roles at HQ Joint Operations Command, and Army Headquarters. He has deployed on multiple operations including RELEX (Border protection), CATALYST (Iraq), ASTUTE (Timor Leste), and HIGHROAD (Afghanistan), where he served within the multinational Resolute Support Headquarters. Brigadier Holloway previously served as Project Director for the Australian Army’s Boxer Combat Reconnaissance Vehicle program, where he also led the Government-to-Government export arrangement for the Boxer Heavy Weapon Carrier to the German Bundeswehr. He currently holds the appointment of Director General Land Manoeuvre Systems Branch within the Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group, where he is responsible for delivering the Australian Defence Force’s inaugural Long-Range Fires, Air and Missile Defence, and Self-Propelled Howitzer capabilities. He is a graduate of the Eisenhower School (National Defense University, Washington DC), the Australian Command and Staff College, and holds three master’s degrees in military studies, business, and national resource strategy. He is also a member of the Australian Institute of Project Managers and the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Brigadier Holloway is married to Justine and is father to Anna and Frederick.
