Brigadier John Holloway

Brigadier Holloway graduated from The Royal Military College - Duntroon to the Royal Australian Armoured Corps in June 2001. He has completed a range of regimental and command roles within the 2nd Cavalry Regiment and B Squadron 3rd / 4th Cavalry Regiment, and commanded the 1st Armoured Regiment.

Brigadier Holloway has fulfilled training appointments at the Royal Military College - Duntroon, and staff officer appointments within Headquarters Joint Operations Command and the Australian Army Headquarters. Brigadier Holloway has recently completed a two year posting as the Project Director for the Australian Army’s Boxer Combat Reconnaissance Vehicle program. He also led the Government to Government arrangement for the export of the Boxer Heavy Weapon Carrier to the German Bundeswehr.

Brigadier Holloway has completed a number of deployments including the Australian Defence Forces’s border protection mission – Operation Relex, Operation CATALYST in Iraq, Operation ASTUTE in Timor Leste, and in 2015 he deployed to Operation HIGHROAD within the multinational Resolute Support Headquarters in Kabul, Afghanistan.

Brigadier Holloway is a 2022 graduate of the Einsenhower School at the National Defense University in Washington, DC; and a 2013 graduate of the Australian Command and Staff College. He holds the academic qualifications of a Master of Military and Defence Studies from the Australian National University, a Master of Business from the University of New South Wales, and a Master of Science in National Resource Strategy from the National Defense University. Brigadier Holloway completed the United States Marine Corps Expeditionary Warfare Course - Quantico, 2011, and is a member of the Australian Institute of Project Managers, and the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Brigadier Holloway commenced his appointment as Director General Land Manoeuvre Systems Branch in December 2024, within the Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group.
