Senior Principal Scientist – Land Survivability Dstl

Tom Newbery is a Land survivability specialist at Dstl. He is the Project Technical Authority for the Counter Effectors and Sensors research project and Dstl’s leading expert on Active Protection Systems in the Land environment. Tom has led MOD’s APS research since 2011, recently focusing on the development of the Modular Integrated Protection Systems architecture and various supporting research activities. Tom is now supporting the British Army’s procurement of Trophy APS for the CHALLENGER 3 programme. He is a Chartered Physicist and has experience across optics, sensor systems, signal processing, systems analysis and explosives engineering.
