LCAT Operations Certification Systems Engineer Land Certification Authority Team, UK MoD

Roger Meaklim is an Incorporated Engineer (IEng) with experience spanning military rotary-wing aviation, electronic warfare and spectrum emissions, systems engineering, and software development. He holds an MSc in Systems Engineering for Defence Capability (Cranfield University), a BEng (Hons) Computer Science with a Year in Industry (2:1), and a Level 5 HND in Computing (Software Development) with Distinction. At Thales UK, Roger worked as a Software Engineer on the Link 16 Network Management System (NMS) and Airscape, delivering new features in C++ supported by differential and architectural analysis. He moved into systems engineering with Marshall Air Traffic Control Systems and later supported the Challenger 2 Life Extension Project (CR2LEP), providing survivability input and technical guidance across hardware/software integration and communications/information systems. As a Scientific Advisor (SCIAD) in the Field Army, he delivered electronic warfare (EW) experimentation and emissions analysis during major exercises in the UK and overseas, helping advance user understanding and inform EW doctrine. Roger joined the Wildcat Delivery Team, progressing from Mission Systems Desk Officer to Defensive Aids Suite (DAS) Manager. He provides specialist engineering advice across mission systems and defensive aids, manages airworthiness issues and hazards, and supports delivery of defensive capability, including temporary clearances for new countermeasures. His remit covers on-platform systems (Radar Warning Receiver, missile warning, and countermeasures dispensing) and the associated off-platform test and mission-data generation toolsets, alongside mentoring and knowledge sharing across the team.
