Major General Steve Maranian, US Army (Retired) concluded his distinguished career in the US Army in 2023. During his 35 years of service, he commanded Field Artillery formations at every echelon from Battery to Theater Fires Command. The majority of his career was spent serving overseas, including 17 years serving in Europe. MG (Ret.) Maranian’s significant general officer assignments included serving as the first commanding general of the 56th Artillery Command in Mainz-Kastel Germany, commandant of the US Army War College, as the deputy commanding general of the US Army Combined Arms Center, as the deputy commanding general of the 2nd (US/ROK) Combined Infantry Division, as the director of the Long Range Precision Fires Cross Functional Team, and as the US Army’s field artillery commandant/chief of field artillery. Following his retirement, Mr. Maranian continued his service as a senior mentor during Warfighter Exercises for the Mission Command Training Program from 2024-2025. He is currently a consultant for industry advising on artillery solutions for the future for companies including Research Innovations, Inc., and American Rheinmetall, and a member of the US Field Artillery Association board of directors.
