James Alder (known as ‘JJ’) is a former Royal Artillery officer in the British Army with a broad spectrum of war fighting experience across Air Defence, Deep Fires, Commando Fire Support Teams and Close Support Artillery. In his later career JJ served in NATO and EU staff roles and is an operational and strategic planning expert. He also completed roles in the Army HQ and the Ministry of Defence in Acquisition and Procurement and latterly specialised in Complex Weapons. JJ joined LMUK - Ampthill in May ‘24 as a Business Development Manager in his first role upon leaving the military. JJ completed his higher education during his time in the Army, achieving a BEng (Hons) in Software Engineering, an MSc in Battlespace Technology and an MBA. He continues to tinker with technology, completing boot camps in modern programming languages and AI, encouraging his children in STEM subjects, and championing maths and technology as a governor at a local junior school.
