Lieutenant-Colonel (LCol) Andrew Curr enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces Primary Reserve as a Gunner in 2003. He began his career with 116 Independent Field Battery in Kenora ON before transferring to 10 Fd Regt in Regina SK. In 2009, he deployed to Afghanistan on TF 5-09, as part of part of Task Force Kandahar HQ. After completing his BA in History at the University of Regina, he deployed once again to Afghanistan on Op Attention Roto 0, as part of the 3 PPCLI training/mentor mission to the Afghan National Army. In 2012, LCol Curr transferred to the Regular Force. Posted to 1 RCHA, LCol Curr occupied various positions within the Regt, including Forward Observation Officer with the privilege to support 3 PPCLI in its NEO tasking and support to RIMPAC 2014, A/RCPO, and BK B Bty. To complete his suffering, LCol Curr had the distinct pleasure to be the RCPO, Adjutant, and Operations officer of 1 RCHA at some point in his Regimental tour. On completion of his French second language training, LCol Curr took Command of B Bty in 2018, with which he deployed with on Op REASSURACE in 2019, attached to the 2 PPCLI BG. On return from deployment, LCol Curr attended JCSP in 2020 but remained in Brandon MB due to COVID-19. In 2020, LCol Curr was once again posted to 1 RCHA as the Regt 2IC. During this posting, LCol Curr deployed again to Latvia on Op REASSURANCE as the Multi-National Division North Headquarters Latvia Joint Fires Support Centre Head. On return from Latvia in 2023, LCol Curr was finally posted out of Shilo MB, after 11 years, to 31 Canadian Brigade Group Headquarters in London ON as the Chief of Staff and HQ unit CO. LCol Curr is currently the Commanding Officer of the 4th General Support Regiment at CFB Gagetown while also currently deployed for a third time to Latvia as the Commanding Officer of the Multinational Artillery Battalion Group, a main subordinate unit within Multinational Brigade Latvia. LCol Curr holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Regina, a Masters in Sciences in Strategic Security and Protection Management from Henley-Putnam University, and a Masters in Defence Studies from RMC. He is a life-long student and avid reader. He is married to his ever supportive spouse Heidi, and they have three sons: Kingston (7), Kohen (5), and Kallum (1.5). He enjoys the outdoors and is an avid soccer fan.
