Joe, CEO of NewType, is a former field artillery officer whose work focuses on fundamentally resolving fire direction bottlenecks and substantially improving target-processing accuracy through Barbara, a voice AI–based target processing solution. Together with NewType's engineering team, he is currently running combat experiments in partnership with the Ukrainian Army, the ROK Field Artillery School, and the ROK CBRN School to validate Barbara's tangible contribution to combat effectiveness across multiple evaluation criteria. As an artillery commander, he led response operations against artillery provocations along Korea's western front. As a Fires Planning Officer at the ROK–US Combined Division, he analyzed kill-chain interactions and data flow between ROK and US assets, and served as the ROK-side PM for integrating US fires into the counter-fire plan protecting the Seoul metropolitan area from enemy long-range artillery.
