LCAT Certification Lead - Operations Land Certification Authority Team, UK MoD

Educated at Dorcan comprehensive school and commencing a career in the automotive industry as a light goods motor technician in 1998, Daniel completed staged higher education that resulted in him becoming a qualified Automotive Engineer. In 2006 Daniel joined the Defence Logistics Organisation as a support Engineer, working with Leyland Daf and Bedford vehicular fleets. Upon the amalgamation of the Defence Logistics Organisation and Defence Procurement Agency to form Defence Equipment & Support, Daniel was promoted to both the lead Engineer for Logistic Vehicle Solutions and subsequently the Through Life Support Engineer for logistic vehicles. Deployments to both operational theatres and overseas training establishments were completed during these positions. Daniel transferred to the Defence Safety Authority in 2016 where he was the lead inspector for the Land Domain, most notably conducting the first operational assurance activities of the DSA and developing the legislative compliance regulatory artefacts currently in use. In 2018 Daniel promoted into the Army's newly formed Head of Equipment Safety position, managing functional Safety on behalf of the Army. Responsibilities included Capability Safety & Environmental Case management, chairmanship of the Noise Induced Hearing Loss and Whole Body Vibration Working Groups in addition to Army TLB's representative at the Land Exemptions Committee and Service Inquiries. Following 5 years in role, Daniel transferred to DE&S to be the Certification Lead for in-service land systems, defining and delivering the organisations Initial Operating Capability and Full Operating Capability criteria. Daniel is a Chartered Automotive Engineer and Safety Practitioner with 20 years of experience in Defence and 28 years in Engineering. A keen sportsman, he played football at county level and also enjoys cycling which combine well with his love of travel. Any spare time is spent with his family and at home he can usually be found cooking or utilising his array of DIY skills.
