Head EU Projects at HCDI - R&D and Innovation Directorate | Commander, Hellenic Navy Commander Pothitos is a senior defense technologist and naval officer with extensive expertise in maritime operations, advanced sensor and weapons integration, uncrewed systems and C4ISR architectures. Currently serving at the Hellenic Centre for Defence Innovation (HCDI SA), he leads project management and initiatives in UxVs, C-UxVs, and EU defense projects. Previously, he served as Missile System Assurance Head at NATO’s SEASPARROW Project Office in Washington, DC, overseeing Quality and Reliability for ESSM Blk 1 & 2 missile production and ISS across multinational partners. He also commands deep operational expertise from his naval career, including roles as Commanding Officer of a SUPER VITA-class Fast Patrol Boat and Head of Sensors and Research Programs for the Weapons and Electronic Systems Directorate at the Hellenic Navy General Staff. Michail holds MSc degrees in Systems Technology (JC4I) and Combat Systems Technology from the Naval Postgraduate School (USA) and is a PhD candidate at NKUA Aerospace Science & Technology Dept, researching networked UxV sensor fusion. He is one of the founders of the Unmanned Systems Lab, Adjunct Lecturer at the Hellenic Naval Academy and a published researcher in C4ISR, multi-sensor integration, EO/IR and uncrewed systems
