Captain Dean Battilana

Dean joined the Royal Australian Navy via the Australian Defence Force Academy in 1996. A specialist Hydrographic Officer, Dean has had the privilege of Commanding HMA Ships BENALLA, PALUMA, and MELVILLE, leading complex survey and operational deployments across the Indo-Pacific, including disaster response operations and internationally recognised search and recovery missions. He is a graduate of the UK Advanced Command and Staff Course with a Master of Arts in Defence Strategic Studies and a Master of Science (Hydrography) from the University of Southern Mississippi. Dean is currently serving as Director Undersea Warfare and Data within Navy Capability Division.
