Vard Marine Inc. (VARD) is a consulting naval architecture and marine engineering company established in July 1983 and is today a wholly owned subsidiary of Vard Group AS in Norway. VARD offers professional design engineering and shipbuilding technology services to clients throughout North America and internationally.

The services we provide include:

• all aspects of ship design and production technology;

• total equipment and service packages to support offshore and domestic shipbuilding activities; transportation, economic and technical feasibility studies;

• research and analytical investigations;

• model tests and full-scale trials.

Since our inception, VARD has established an impressive client base, including shipbuilders, ship owners, ship operators and government agencies around the world.

VARD specializes in the development of advanced technologies and their application to vessel designs, for both commercial and military vessels. The wide range of vessel designs we offer include offshore supply vessels, offshore and coastal patrol vessels, passenger vessels and ferries, icebreakers, double hull tankers, research vessels, fishing vessels, and floating plant barges, to name a few.

Vard Marine has delivered design services to military and government clients including, but not limited to, the British Royal Navy, New Zealand Navy, Irish Naval Services, Chilean Navy, South African Navy, Royal Canadian Navy (RCN), US Navy, Canadian Coast Guard (CCG), US Coast Guard and the Mauritius Coast Guard. We have, and continue to, directly support 9 of Canada’s 10 major national ship building programs developing vessels that meet their operational requirements.

We have created new vessel designs for the CCG and RCN as well as completed modernization and refit design and engineering work for existing vessels. This experience has enabled the development of our ABS approval in principle VARD 7 115 NGOPV global solution design. Vard Marine specializes in the development of advanced technologies and their application to vessel designs, for both military and commercial vessels. Naval and coast guard offshore patrol vessels, research vessels, and icebreakers have been core business lines over our entire 38+ years history.

Our long-range plans focus on the development of efficiency and clean energy solutions in shipbuilding across our entire vessel portfolio. We are presently integrating with our affiliate companies, to bring their established hybrid and stored energy expertise to our international client base.
