Commodore Kyrre Haugen assumed command of the Norwegian Fleet on 13th August 2024. Cdre Haugen served as the head of the capability development section in the Norwegian Ministry of Defence from January 2021 to August 2024. The section capability development, systems analysis and long-term planning related to force structure and development.

Cdre Haugen has a background as a navy officer, serving in various capacities at different levels. He is a navigator surface warfare officer with background as a commanding officer and squadron commander. He has had positions in the Defence Staff, several different positions in the navy staff and CO of the maritime tactical training centre.

He has served in international positions in Combined Maritime Forces (CMF) in Bahrain as deputy director and in UNIFIL II Maritime operation as Commander Task Group for the Norwegian deployed force.

Cdre Haugen has his education from Naval Academy (level I and II) and The Norwegian Defence Command and Staff College. (NDCSC) Cdre Kyrre Haugen was born on June 16th, 1971 in Bergen.
