Colonel Georgios Nellas

Commander of the Hellenic Artillery School Hellenic Army

Colonel Georgios Nellas was born in 1973 in Athens. He was admitted to the Hellenic Military Academy (Evelpidon) in 1991 and graduated in 1995 as Artillery Second Lieutenant. As a junior officer, he served in Artillery units and as an instructor at the Hellenic Army Artillery School. He has attended all required Artillery Officer Training Courses.

During his career as a senior officer, he served as an Artillery Staff Officer (Artillery Command), battalion Commander, Commander (Artillery Command) and deputy chief of Staff (Mechanized Infantry Division). He has also served as a Staff Officer at the HAGS/Operations Directorate. On March 31, 2025 he assumed his duties as Commander at the Hellenic Army Artillery School.

He has been awarded all decorations, commendations and medals provided for his rank. He attended the Army War College (2016-2017) and the Hellenic National Defence College (2020-2021). He holds a Master’s Degree in International Relations and Security (University of Macedonia/Thessaloniki).
