Colonel David Brassard

Colonel David Brassard is a senior Canadian Army officer and graduate of the Royal Military College of Canada, commissioned into the Royal Canadian Artillery in 2000. He began his career with the 2nd Regiment, Royal Canadian Horse Artillery in Petawawa before serving as aide-de-camp to the Commander of 2 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group. He has since commanded at multiple levels, including a battery with the 4th Artillery Regiment and most recently the 1st Regiment, Royal Canadian Horse Artillery (2020–2022). Colonel Brassard has deployed on four international operations, including Bosnia-Herzegovina, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Afghanistan, and has served across all Canadian Army regular force brigades. His staff experience spans key strategic and operational roles, including appointments within the Strategic Joint Staff, Canadian Joint Operations Command, and Canadian Army Headquarters, as well as senior executive positions supporting national defence leadership. Promoted to colonel in 2022, he later commanded 5 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group.
