Brigadier Mark Comer

Deputy Chief of Staff (DCOS) PLANS Joint Support and Enabling Command (JSEC)

Brigadier Mark Comer was born and raised in Belfast. He joined the British Army in 1993 as a soldier in 3 R IRISH, serving in Northern Ireland for two years before attending the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. He commissioned into the Royal Logistic Corps undertaking operational deployments to Northern Ireland and Bosnia before returning to Sandhurst as an instructor. As a staff officer, he deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan in logistic roles and served as a staff officer in HQ 1 (UK) Armoured Division in Germany.

He commanded 159 Regiment RLC, an Army Reserve Regiment in the Midlands. On promotion to Colonel in 2017, he became Chief of Staff of Enabling Command at HQ Allied Rapid Reaction Corps, taking part in numerous NATO exercises. In 2019, he became ACOS Support in the Standing Joint Force Headquarters, which included coordinating the UK response to the COVID pandemic in the Caribbean.

He joined the NATO International Military Staff as the Deputy Director Logistic and Resources Division on promotion to Brigadier in July 2022. He joins NATO’s Joint Support and Enabling Command as DCOS Plans in Summer 2025.
