Dr Andrew Roberts is the Head of Army Recruit Health & Performance Research at the Army Initial Training Command in Upavon, Wiltshire. With over 15 years of experience in military health and performance research, Andrew has dedicated his career to advancing our understanding of human performance, injury prevention, and rehabilitation.

Andrew holds a PhD in Health Sciences from the University of Exeter, an MSc in Sport Injury from Sheffield Hallam University, and a BSc in Biology from the University of Sheffield. His extensive research has secured over £2 million in funding, addressing critical issues such as exertional heat illness and musculoskeletal injury prevention.

In his current role, Andrew leads multidisciplinary teams, manages large-scale research projects, and collaborates with academic institutions to develop evidence-based practices that enhance the health and performance of Army trainees. As Co-Chair of the Army Scientific Assessment Committee, he ensures rigorous scientific standards in research design, methodology, and analysis.

Andrew is passionate about translating research findings into practical applications that improve training outcomes and reduce injury risks. He has authored more than 40 publications in high-impact journals, and he frequently presents at international conferences.
