Tony Ghoman is a senior engineering leader with over 22 years of experience in Canada’s defence science and technology ecosystem. As Chief Engineer of the Toronto Research Center and Section Head of Facilities and Project Management at Defence Research and Development Canada (DRDC), Tony leads R&D and capability development initiatives that support Canada’s strategic defence priorities. With a background in engineering, innovation management, and project delivery, Tony has overseen multi-million-dollar infrastructure and science programs. His leadership spans strategic planning, lifecycle management (LCMM), and the modernization of critical R&D assets and facilities. He played a pivotal role in the Treasury Board submission for continental defence, ensuring alignment across multiple Directorates and federal priorities. Tony is also a recognized champion of innovation and diversity. He holds several patents, has led technology transfer initiatives, and actively mentors the next generation of defence scientists and engineers. A recipient of multiple national awards, including the CDS/DM Defence Excellence Award for Career Impact, Tony is passionate about building resilient systems that integrate people, infrastructure, and science for operational effectiveness and future readiness.
