Mark Ashwell is the Chief of Strategy for L3Harris UK. His expertise is in Command and Control, Space Operations and Intelligence. He has 28 years of Royal Air Force experience where he shaped and commanded the RAF Air Battle Management Organisation following the aftermath of the tragic events of 9/11. In 2004 he established the first joint UK/US multi-agency, multi-intelligence fusion centre (JNAC) to focus on the complex challenge of counter narcotics. Promoted to Air Commodore and as Director Intelligence Policy, Strategy and Capability he was responsible for the restructuring of Defence Intelligence to adapt to digital, fused, multi-source intelligence operations. On leaving the Air Force in 2009 he joined Digital Globe as Vice President International Strategy to drive their move from imagery provision to insight and decision support. He now consults widely, applying his expertise in digital innovation and transformation to enhance Command and Information capabilities in Defence and Commercial organisations. His current focus is on innovation and the exploitation of virtual simulation and training to deliver enhanced and efficient operational capability for next generation air forces.
Mark is a graduate of the University of London and an Alumnus of the NATO Defence College. He is married to Alison and they live happily ensconced in the wilds of Dartmoor Devon.
