Over the course of a distinguished career beginning with his entry into the German Air Force in 1983, he has built deep expertise across communications engineering, electronic warfare, cyber operations, and strategic leadership. Following his officer training and academic studies at the University of the Bundeswehr in Munich, he served in key operational roles as an Electronic Warfare and Reconnaissance Officer before moving into squadron command at FmBer 70 in Trier. His career advanced through a series of increasingly complex staff and leadership positions, including system management, joint CIS project oversight, and senior roles within the Federal Ministry of Defence. After completing the 42nd General Staff Course, he held pivotal appointments shaping C4ISR capability development, IT governance, interoperability, and cyber policy at both the Armed Forces Staff and the Ministry’s IT directorates. He later commanded the 292nd CIS Battalion and went on to lead major divisions and branches responsible for IT security, cyber strategy, hybrid warfare, and the establishment of the Cyber and Information Domain Service. From 2017 onward, he served as Director Plans and Policy at the CID Service Headquarters, followed by senior implementation leadership roles within ZDigBw and the FMoD’s Cyber/IT directorate. Since 2024, he has served as Commander of the CID Support Forces and Deputy Chief of Staff Capabilities at CID Headquarters in Bonn, continuing his long-standing commitment to strengthening Germany’s cyber and information domain capabilities.
