Brigadier John Woolmer

John Woolmer commissioned in 1996 and has spent his career as a professional intelligence officer in a variety of intelligence posts covering intelligence collection, analysis and management.  He has served in Northern Ireland, Bosnia, Kosovo, Sierra Leone, Afghanistan, and Iraq on operations, as well as directly supporting several other deployments throughout his career. John has spent nearly his entire career in joint appointments and has also served on secondment with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, in cross-government partnerships and was the Deputy Head of Intelligence for US 1st Infantry Division in Baghdad in 2014-15.  John now commands the Joint Cyber and Electro-Magnetic Activities Group. A graduate of the University of York in Philosophy and Politics, John went on to gain a Masters in Joint Operational Planning and Strategy from the US National Defense University in 2014 and a Post Graduate Certificate in Cyber Operations at the University of Cranfield.
