Brigadier General Halvor Johansen started his career in the Norwegian Army, and has a traditional signals officer background, finishing with serving two years as commander of the Norwegian Army’s Signal Battalion in 2010-2012. Brigadier General Johansen has served nine years in the Norwegian Special Operations Command, as a staff officer and as director of the Plans and Policy Branch, before assuming command of the CIS regiment of the Norwegian Armed Forces Cyber Defence in 2018. Brigadier General Johansen assumed command of the Norwegian Armed Forces Cyber Defence in june 2022. Brigadier General Johansen is educated through the Norwegian Army Officer’s academy and the Norwegian Armed Forces command and staff college, and has a masters degree in military studies from the Norwegian Armed Forces University College, as well as having attended NATO Defence College. Throughout his career, Brigadier General Johansen has also served in NATO operations in Kosovo and in Afghanistan. As chief of the Norwegian Armed Forces Cyber Defence, Brigadier General Johansen is responsible for CIS and ICT support to Norwegian Armed Forces, as well as for cyber defence and cyber security in the Norwegian Armed Forces and the defence sector in Norway.
