Lieutenant Colonel Antonie Franken

He began his military career in 2005 at the Royal Netherlands Military Academy. After graduating, he joined the Royal Netherlands Air Force as an intelligence officer. His initial assignments were at the Netherlands Defense Helicopter Command, during which he was deployed to Afghanistan twice (ISAF) and to Mali once (MINUSMA). He later joined the RNLASF staff headquarters, holding various positions in the Air and Space Warfare Centre, Air Force Strategy, and in the NASOC as head of A2 and head of the ISRD. During this period, he was deployed to the CAOC in Qatar (OIR) as head of Analysis Correlation and Fusion in the Coalition Intelligence Fusion Cell. Over the past decade, LtCol Antonie Franken has been spearheading the development of intelligence and ISR capabilities within the Royal Netherlands Air Force. He founded the RNLASF ISR-Division in the National Air and Space Operations Command and has focused his career on advancing ISR within the Netherlands Armed Forces. In 2024, he completed the Advanced Command and Staff Course and became the Branch head of ISTAR and senior advisor to the RNLASF Intelligence and Security department. He currently leads the RNLASF Intelligence, ISR, and Targeting enterprise strategy, which is one of the RNLASF's strategic priorities.
