After his early career as a front line operational pilot on the Tornado GR4 and B-2 Stealth Bomber, Air Vice-Marshal Arthurton completed two tours at the UK Permanent Joint Headquarters, and an assignment at the British Embassy in Washington DC. Having commanded 617 Squadron, he went on to command RAF Leeming and the RAF’s Combat Air Force with responsibility for the operational output of all UK combat air forces. Posted to the MOD in May 2022, as the Director of Strategy and Military Digitisation, he is responsible for accelerating transformation and adoption of digital products and services across Defence.
