Following calls from former ABF Commissioner Michael Outram for urgent modernisation, the government is prioritising advanced surveillance, automation, and AI-driven systems to enhance situational awareness, streamline travel and trade, and strengthen national resilience ahead of the 2032 Brisbane Olympics.
From uncrewed patrol vessels and facial recognition upgrades to blockchain-secured communications and quantum-enhanced radar, these initiatives reflect a major shift toward an integrated, intelligent border ecosystem.
