Nicolas Jouan

Senior Analyst RAND Europe

Nicolas Jouan is a senior analyst in the Defence and Security group at RAND Europe. His research interests relate to the geopolitics of the Arctic, European defence, budget and acquisition policy. He has delivered policy research projects for the UK Ministry of Defence, the UK Office for Security and Counter-Terrorism, the Australian Department of Defence and the US Commission on Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution Reform. He also contributed to the works of the UK Scottish Affairs Committee, International Relations and Defence Committee and Select Committee on Artificial Intelligence in Weapon Systems. Prior to joining RAND, Jouan worked for market research firms Euromonitor and GlobalData in London where he specialised in the global defence industry. He holds a M.Litt. in international relations from the University of St Andrews and a M.Res. in modern history from the University of Paris IV Sorbonne.
