Captain Ivo Schneider joined the Navy on Jul 1st, 1987 and has undergone his professional training as a classic warfare officer and seafarer. As a Lieutenant he was selected for an exchange program with the Royal Navy, serving on HM ships CUMBERLAND and COVENTRY until 1997. He gained experience in many operations later on, and he completed his 13 years of sea service as Commanding Officer of FGS BRANDENBURG from 2014 to 2016. Service ashore saw Captain Schneider in the Joint Force Command NAPLES, Italy, responsible for the operational level planning of NATO operations after 9/11. He completed a 3-year-tour in the German Ministry of Defense as deputy branch head for multinational force planning (NATO/EU). From 2018-2020 he was appointed Branch Head for Capability Development in the German Navy HQ which included unmanned systems and CUI. Captain Schneider completed the Command Course at the US Naval War College, Newport/Rhode Island, with the focus on the Indo-Pacific region and served as Naval Attaché to the US Navy in Washington/D.C. He has been appointed Defense Attaché to Singapore in August 2024.
