Lucy Walton joined BAE Systems in September 2008. Currently, she holds the position of Head of Training with the responsibility for developing the Next Generation Training Strategy for the Air Sector, a role that has recently expanded to encompass enterprise-wide multi-domain training. Lucy's journey with BAE Systems began with her enrolment in the company, where she embarked on a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Project Management resulting in a first-class honours degree. Throughout her tenure at BAE Systems, Lucy has held various roles, providing her with a comprehensive understanding of the entire project lifecycle. She has covered a variety of role including Bid Management, strategy development, support, and retirement of in-service aircraft. Her diverse experience has allowed her to gain invaluable insights into the intricacies of managing complex projects. Lucy's expertise extends to her support of the Royal Air Force (RAF) customer in multiple key capacities. She has been actively involved in safety critical projects involving the upgrade of legacy platforms, ensuring aircraft availability, and planning training flying hour requirements. Her understanding of customer needs and requirements have enabled her to forge strong relationships enabling effective collaborations on developing strategies and identifying enablers to enhance training and support outcomes. In recent years, Lucy's focus has shifted towards strategy definition, particularly in preparation for the 2035 FCAS era. With a keen eye on future capabilities and operating environments, she has been evolving and delivering the course for BAE Systems' training strategies in line with evolving industry demands. Outside of her professional career, Lucy lives with her husband Chris who is a Eurofighter Typhoon Engineer and enjoys a variety of hobbies.
