Captain Panu Kaski

Research Officer Finnish Army

I have been able to work for the mortars for more than 15 years, and I still have the passion to develop that branch of training. The first tasks with mortars started as a platoon instructor in a mortar unit. Teaching conscripts the basic handling of the mortars over the years created a strong foundation for knowing the weapon system. From being a conscript instructor, I moved to the Finnish Defense Forces staff trainer at the Army Academy's Infantry School, where I was able to work on the cutting edge of mortar training with top professionals for several years. My current position as a Research Officer Infantry/Mortars in Land Combat Center allows me to research and develop mortars full time. In multinational operations, I have worked as a mortar platoon commander, deputy commander of an infantry unit and in advisory roles.
