Erin Bisset

Infrastructure Superintendent, HM Naval Base Portsmouth Royal Navy
Erin Bisset

Erin joined the Civil Service as an Administrative Officer in 2009 and has since gained a wealth of experience by working across a diverse portfolio within the Ministry of Defence Top Level Budgets (TLBs). These include such roles as Income Generation Commercial Officer for the Royal Navy, Contract Management at Southwick Park, Assurance Officer within Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO), integration of the Portfolio Office in Navy Command Head Quarters (NCHQ), Estate Manager on HMNB Portsmouth and Assistant Head of Efficiency for the British Army. Erin joins the Naval Base from Develop Directorate where she held responsibility for the Royal Navy’s 30-year shipbuilding pipeline and has been heavily involved in preparations for the Strategic Defence Review. Erin graduated from Kings College London with a Master’s degree in Defence Studies, where she was the sole-Civil Servant representative for the Royal Navy whilst attending the Advanced Command Staff Course. She is currently a First Sea Lord Fellow, investigating the lack of diversity of thought within Develop Directorate. As an avid campaigner for inclusion, Erin is a member of the Naval Service Women’s Network, and one of the Royal Navy’s two advocates against Domestic Abuse. Her key focus is challenging the status quo and collaborating with seniors across Defence to help shape a more inclusive Whole Force to improve the lived experience for all Defence personnel, now and in the future.
