Air Cdre Will Dole joined the RAF in November 1991. Early tours as a junior officer included personnel, financial management, infrastructure, instructor, and outer office-related appointments across a variety of UK and overseas units. Promoted to squadron leader in November 2000, Dole was posted to RAF Innsworth as Officer Commanding Station Services Squadron. Staff tours then followed as the Personal Staff Officer to Air Officer Administration and Air Officer Directly Administered Units and to PJHQ as the lead desk officer for the infrastructure requirements of the Permanent Joint Operating Bases. After completing Advanced Command and Staff Course (ACSC 10), during which time he was promoted to wing commander, Dole was assigned to the staff of Director General Media Communications and then to RAF Aldergrove as Officer Commanding Service Support Wing. Staff appointments followed to the Air Staff of the British Embassy Washington DC, the RAF’s Career Management Directorate, and the Defence Infrastructure Organisation. Promoted to group captain in September 2016, Dole was assigned to Headquarters Air Command as the Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff Infrastructure Plans. This was followed by appointments as Head of Recruiting and Selection for the RAF and a return to the RAF’s Career Management Directorate. Dole was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2022 and was promoted to air commodore in August 2023, whereupon he assumed the appointment of Hd RAF Infrastructure. Operational tours include Op DENY FLIGHT (1995); Op TELIC (04/05) and Op HERRICK (12/13). Married with one son, Dole’s main interests include all forms of sport, travel and spending time outside with his family.
