RADM Georg Kr. Lárusson was born in Reykjavík in 1959. He was appointed Director General of the Icelandic Coast Guard and the Icelandic Hydrographic Service by the Minister of Justice in December 2004 and took office on 1st .January 2005. RADM Lárusson is a lawyer and Attorney at Law. He graduated from the University of Iceland, Faculty of Law and did his advanced studies at the University of Copenhagen, Faculty of Law.
Professional field: Since 2005, RADM Lárusson has served as the Director General of the Icelandic Coast Guard and the Icelandic Hydrographic Service. Before that, he was the first Director of the Icelandic Directorate of Immigration and Deputy Commissioner and acting Commissioner of Reykjavík Police.
RADM Lárusson was the Vestmannaeyjar archipelago District Commissioner and Chief of Police and Customs for six years and before that, the Head of Administrative Services for the preparations phase for the establishment of the Reykjavík District Court. Between 1985 and 1992, he served as an acting Judge of the Reykjavík Civil Court, and as a Commissioner and Chief of Police and Customs in several counties around Iceland. He also served as Deputy to the Reykjavík Civil Court and a First Deputy of the Chief Judge of the Reykjavík Civil Court.

Throughout the years, RADM Lárusson has been appointed by the Prime Minister of Iceland, Althingi Parliament and various ministries for service on numerous committees, boards and working groups as well being involved with related issues by several governmental institutions.
Personal interests: RADM Lárusson personal interests are skiing, fishing, hunting, sailing and other outdoor activities.
