Colonel Vasile Ionescu

Director of Air Force Staff Romanian Air Force

Colonel Vasile Ionescu started his military career in 1997 as anti-aircraft artillery platoon commander, and during his career he served in various positions within different Air Defence units belonging to the Romanian Air Force. Between 2010 and 2020, he assumed the position of the chief of the international relation structure within the Romanian Air Force Staff. He was promoted to the rank of Colonel on 20th of July 2018 and starting with December 2020 he was assigned Director of the Romanian Air Force Staff.

• Continuing to support front-line forces: conducting intra-theatre airlift in contested environments

• The logistics and resupply mission in the European theatre: identifying bottlenecks for rapid deployment of air and joint forces
